Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- That was a Tough One
Anthony Gargano Talked About the Eagles’ Tough Loss Last Night in his Opening Diatribe…
It was a tough one last night. They played a hell of a game. This was not something where they were run off the field. It was just so tantalizingly close. That second half was a kick in the stones. It was a gut punch in every facet. You get a 10-point lead at halftime, you have to finish the deal. Ultimately, you cant give Patrick Mahomes short fields. And the defensive coordinator has to come up with an answer. You have to change things, have to do something to slow them down…
The Eagles were so good offensively with controlling the ball. We talked about time of possession, and how huge it would be. To keep Mahomes on the sideline. They held the ball for 35:47. You are talking about almost a 12-minute advantage. They had the ball basically another quarter. That is a huge advantage. You can t lose when you hold the ball that long. That is where the defensive coordinator has to change things up. You have to get a stop.
Jalen played his heart out. You throw for 300 yards and rush for 3 scores. That is one of those epic performances in those Super Bowls. He was tremendous. But you have to get off the field. And the biggest worry I had coming into the game was could they stop Mahomes. In the second half, they couldn’t get out of their own way. Nary a sack…
What a gut-wrenching one. After going through the Phillies, and the Union. Now the Birds losing in the championship game is just tough…
However, the Eagles are a really good team… The Eagles went toe to toe with the Chiefs. They could have and should have won. They are there. And they aren’t going anywhere… The chances are they are going to be there. They are set up for the future. And the same thing goes for the Phillies.
