Haason Reddick Reminds Me Of Lawrence Taylor
By Ricky Bottalico
Some players have the ability to bring you back in time. Haason Reddick is just that for me. He is able to get around or through offensive linemen like a hot knife through butter. On any given play, you will find him mulling around in the opposing team’s backfield, giving them fits!
Reddick has me thinking of a player from the past. The one player that I recall watching as a kid was Lawrence Taylor. Same type of mindset. Always trying to disrupt the opponent’s playcalling. Taylor was a player that would have opponents game planning for him, personally. You always wanted to know where he was lined up defensively and had to plan accordingly. Both players are physically strong, agile and their quickness off the ball is insane. Taylor was feared back in the day and this season I think Reddick should be feared also.
A look at the numbers for Reddick this regular season: 16 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. The postseason has been really impressive also. Another 3.5 sacks, along with a forced fumble. The numbers are great, and they are telling. But more importantly, Reddick’s presence on the field has all of us noticing how special he is.
I know that defense is made up of 11 players, and each player is a cog in that machine. But Reddick has really impressed me on a weekly basis. You can see the intensity and the desire to be the best. He has shown that his contract has become almost a bargain, and that quite simply in my eyes……………………… (Haason Reddick is a BEAST!)
