Tim McManus Previews Eagles vs Niners
This Sunday, it is Eagles vs Niners in the NFC Championship Game. They have been the best teams in the NFC all season. And at 3 pm on Sunday they will square off at the Linc. Earlier today, Tim McManus joined The Best Show Ever to preview the game. What are the matchups to watch? Where can the Eagles find some advantages to exploit? Could they be getting Avonte Maddox back? Here is what Tim McManus had to say about the Eagles vs Niners game.
On if there is a chance with Avonte Maddox can play
“It seems like there is a decent amount of optimism about it. The practice report just came out, and he was a limited participant, him and Lane Johnson. Those were the only two names on the practice report. Good news for an Eagles team that has played all the way up into the Championship round here, and have done so with a pretty healthy roster. Maddox has been sidelined for the last several weeks. It was just a couple of weeks ago when we see him in the locker room with a walking boot. But here he is getting ready to try and play in this game. So there is a decent chance they have all hands on deck for this game.”
On the Eagles WRs vs the Niners Secondary
“I think you are identifying the area to attack what is a really good Niners defense. I have immense respect for Demeco Ryans. I covered him here. They called him Mufasa. And he lived up to it. Just one of the top leaders of men I have been around… Sirianni was talking about him earlier in the week. He said one of the qualities you look for in a godd coach is whether the players go all out. And he said this 49ers team, it shows up on tape, just sell out physically for this guy. So that is what you are going up against.
But there is some vulnerability in the back end. They have been susceptible to explosive plays. If you are searching for advantageous matchups here, it exists in the defensive backs for the Niners, and the wide receivers for the Eagles. This has a chance to be a pretty big Devonta Smith game. If he goes up against Lenior… I think that is an advantage. And of course, you know AJ Brown is hungry to get the football… That is the way to attack this team. I think we we will see a heavier dose of the passing game, relative to last week.”
