Jeff McLane Joins Anthony to Discuss The Eagles vs 49ers Matchup
The Eagles are getting set to take on the 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday. And to preview that game, Jeff McLane joined The Anthony Gargano Show. How do the two teams match up? Are the 49ers as scary as people are making them out to be? Where can the Eagles create some matchup advantages? Jeff McLane discussed that and more. Here is some of what he had to say.
On The 49ers’ Secondary
“They have given up some explosive plays. And if the Eagles can hit one or two of those early that could help them get in the lead. For any team you want to do that, but for the Eagles, it plays to their advantage because of their run game. Lenoir is a guy you can probably attack. They have really good safeties and a good slot in Jimmie Ward… But if you can give Jalen time, that may be where they are their weakest… No team is perfect, and there could be opportunities (for AJ Brown and Devonta Smith).”
On Where the Eagles Matchup Best vs the 49ers
“The middle of that offensive line is their weak spot. And I have to think the Eagles have an advantage there. That is one that can really tip the scales in their favor, with Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox.”
On Brock Purdy vs this Eagles Pass Rush
“I think for the most part he carried himself well. He finished better than he started. Dallas is a very good front. But the Eagles have more depth… He had happy feet a little bit. And we know the Eagles have the best pass rush in the NFL. Haason Reddick was a beast Saturday night. Probably the best defensive player on the field. He has been like that for weeks. Just constantly getting after the Qb. And you have Sweaty on the other side.”
