Jimmy Kempski On The Health of Jalen Hurts’ Shoulder
Should we be concerned about the health of Jalen Hurts’ shoulder? Or is two weeks enough for it to fully heal to where he is comfortable playing his brand of Football? Jimmy Kempski from The Philly Voice joined the show to discuss that, and more. He also got into how great this team has been, the AJ Brown Devonta Smith duo, and if Lane Johnson really will be able to play through his injury. Here is some of what Jimmy Kempski had to say.
On How Great of a Season This Team Had
“They broke their record for most wins in a season with 14. They broke a record for most points scored in a season with 477… AJ Brown breaks the team’s single-season yards record. Devonta Smith breaks the team record for most receptions in a season by a WR. First team in NFL history to have 4 guys with double-digit sacks. They had 70 sacks on the season which is a crazy number of sacks. The NFL record is 72 by the 84 Bears.
The stuff they did this year was insane. When they got rolling this year it almost got boring. They were just beating teams very easily during the middle stretch of the season… Certainly, when you look at this team, it is hard not to be impressed by what they accomplished.”
On the Health of Jalen Hurts’ Shoulder
“I thought he was affected while throwing the ball. His accuracy wasn’t as crisp as we have seen the rest of the season. He didn’t make too many throws that needed a lot of velocity in the intermediate area of the field. When he did throw a couple of deep balls, I didn’t think he threw them with as much power as we saw throughout the year. And obviously, as a runner, they didn’t use him that way. Nor should they have… It wasn’t the same player that we have seen throughout the year.
Nick Sirianni did acknowledge that he was hurting. Not totally unexpected with that injury. He will have 2 weeks between now and when they play. I imagine he will be significantly further along by the time they play again. So we may look back at this time and laugh at our level of concern. But certainly, he would not have played had they not needed this game. He was hurting in that game and was not the same player we has seen all year.”
