Tim McManus Mid-Week Report Before Bears Game
Every week Tim McManus joins “The Best Show Ever?” for his Mid-Week Report. What did he say today in this week’s mid-week report? They got into if this is the best Eagles team he has covered, gave an injury update, and previewed this Sunday’s game vs the Bears. Here is some of what Tim McManus had to say.
On if This is The Best Eagles Team He Has Covered
“Yes… Because they can do it in all sorts of ways on both sides of the ball… In terms of overall offensive performance, they are number 2 in the NFL, and in terms of overall defensive performance, they are number 1… They are just at the top of the world. We know that offensively it is not this one-dimensional thing. Who are we going up against? What is their weakness? Okay, we’ve got an answer for that. And I can’t say I have ever covered a team that has that in their arsenal. Where they can be whoever they want, whenever they want, and dominate the opponent doing it.
And then defensively… if you look at what they are doing, they are right at the top of the league in performance and production. So yea, MVP Candidate, best O-line in football, running game. They have to do it. There is still a lot of regular season left and the playoffs. A lot of hurdles to get over. But yea, this is the best team that I have seen.”
On If There Is A Good Way To Defend This Offense
It’s the big problem that they have. Before it was maybe just blitz Hurts. Because if you looked at the numbers over the first 4 weeks, he had 0 TDs and one interception against the blitz. From week 5 on he blew up against the blitz. He was crushing it. 9 TDs and 0 interceptions. There is really not an answer… There is never a disadvantage on the outside when you have AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. They will always look at that as an advantage no matter what CB tandem you go up against… There are just too many problems for teams to properly account for.
I don’t know what you would do. I guess sit back and spy Hurts. Try to keep the big play off of you. But then you are getting sliced up underneath. That is probably the best way to reduce the damage. But there is no great way to stop this offense.
