I heard Tyrone talking about 5. The best QB to ever play here, talent-wise not accomplishments, was Randall Cunningham. He had the best skills of any Qb. Now Andy was the best coach in Eagles history. And Andy helped 5 become the most accomplished Qb in Eagles history. He wasn’t the greatest Qb skill-wise, but he was easily the most accomplished.
And I could probably argue that 5 when it comes to skill, pure natural skill, was 3rd. Behind Randall, and Mike Vick. We forget about how ridiculously talented Mike Vick was. And I still think if Andy had him early on, he becomes one of the greatest QBs ever.
Now 5 was terrific too in his own right. But he had flaws, which I still contend is why they didn’t win the Super Bowl. He was good enough to get them there. But he didn’t have the I hate to lose gene. You saw the hate-to-lose gene the other night with Brady. If you watched the Brady- Saints game. It was the tale of two Bradys. The one Tom who’s losing 16-3 has that face. That nasty face. His lips are pursed, he’s mad. And I respect that. He hates to lose.
And I feel like Jalen has that in him. He has the it factor. I believe he has it. He has a tenacious way about him. Like what he did over the offseason. Work, work, work, work, work. And it dawned on me. He has got the it factor. If you know him, it is clear.
Interestingly, 5 was a physical specimen. Strong, big arm, and he could throw it a mile. He didn’t have the touch but had a monster arm. Was a big-time runner because he was so strong… He was a great athlete. But it came easy to him. He was a great athlete, but I know he wasn’t the best worker. Jalen, nothing came easy to him. And Jalen is a tireless worker…
I feel like, Jalen Hurts will go down as the most accomplished Qb in Eagles History, surpassing Mcnabb. He is not the most elite Qb, he is not Randall and he is not Vick. But he will go down as the most accomplished Qb in Eagles history…
