Jeff McLane Discusses The Eagles After Their Blowout Of The Giants
The Eagles continue to dominate teams. And to discuss this team, their potential, and some recent moves, Anthony Gargano talked to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. He broke down what makes this Eagles offense so special, gave some injury reports, and more. Here is what Jeff McLane had to say.
On The Success Of The Offense
“The offense has been clicking. When you play at this high of a level, and you are successful with certain plays, you can start building off those plays. That is why you are seeing so many permutations of Qb draws, or typical pass plays where you have a hook and a curl. You can do different things to dress them up because now teams don’t know what is coming. Even the QB sneak we saw them brilliantly call that fake speed sneak. They just kicked it out to Miles, complete blockage on that side, and he picked up 15 yards.
When the offense is humming like this you can keep building off of those successful plays… It’s amazing what you can do with an offense when it is performing this well. You haven’t seen a defense, besides from that Colts game, at any point shut down this offense, or even slow it down.”
On the Eagles’ Ability To Match Run-Stopping Defenses
“The Titans had an extra guy down in the box… And the Eagles had trouble running the ball. But they were like fine, we are going to throw the ball on you now because we have the advantage on the outside. A lot of teams don’t have the CB play to match that. And that’s been the big difference this year. That is what the Eagles spent all offseason trying to correct. As we saw in the playoff game last year, if you throw an extra man in the box, you can stop even the best run offense in the NFL.
Now that Jalen Hurts has taken his game to the next level, and you bring in AJ Brown, you now have a dynamic passing attack. Week after week Jalen is stacking these great passing performances, you see how confident he is. He had remarkable elite throws into little tiny windows… Jalen is now clicking. You have an offense that can gash you in a myriad of ways.”
