The Phillies are on the ropes after game 5. They are one loss away from it all being over. And to restore some confidence into this series, Anthony Gargano talked to Larry Bowa, who has been confident all postseason. Is he still feeling good after the Phillies fell behind 3-2? Here is what Larry Bowa had to say when he joined The Anthony Gargano Show.
On Sticking With His Prediciton for Phillies in 7
“I’m sticking with it. I said Phillies in 7. I have Wheeler on the mound. And I am not even worried about game 7, Phillies just have to win game 6. You have covered sports, you get a game 7, and there are too many intangibles that can happen. I am sticking with the Phillies in 7. We had our chances last night. All we had to do was put the ball in play a couple of times. It didn’t happen. But I still feel good about Wheeler. I talked to a couple of people, and his bullpen was great. So I am looking forward to tomorrow night, and getting the W.”
On Trusting Ranger Suarez in a Possible Game 7
“I don’t even know if Ranger has a heartbeat. This guy is so cool out there. He is unbelievable. There is nothing he can’t do. He fields his position, and he pitches inside. Always under control. He has really pitched well.”
On Confidence For Game 6, and Wasting Chances in Game 5
“Tomorrow I think Wheeler is going to crank one up. I think our bats will come alive a little bit. We hit some balls last night that were unbelievable. Schwarber hit a bullet to first, I don’t know how the guy caught it. And the CF made an incredible catch in the bottom of the 9th. We had our chances. There are times in the game it doesn’t take a hit to drive in a run. We have to put the ball in play. We didn’t do that a couple of times. And that came back to bite us… We couldnt come up with that one big hit. If we did, the tables would be reversed.”
