Jimmy Rollins Discusses the Phillies-Padres Series
Few players have as much experience with Phillies home playoff games as Jimmy Rollins. And few players have come up as big as Jimmy Rollins in the playoffs for the Phillies. So who better to talk to while the Phillies are currently in the NLCS than Jimmy? He joined The Anthony Gargano Show earlier today to talk about the Phillies-Padres series, the advantage of Citizen’s Bank Park and more! Here is what he had to say to us.
On The Citizens Bank Park Crowd
“As a visiting players tell it, that is one of the toughest plays to play. Because of the crowd. And because of how that stadium was built, they are literally right on top of you. As a home player, you don’t feel it. It is like these are my people. This is how it is supposed to be. But as a visiting player, you know the type of stuff that comes out of those fans’ mouths. they are creative. They do their research. And they have something for you. As a visiting player, I heard it is the worst place to be, and I loved it.”
Prediction for Today’s Game
“Nola, if he continues what he has done, I can easily see it being 2-0. It is not going to be easy. We can’t go out there there and get 3 hits, and 2 runs and expect to win every game. But when I talk to guys like Pedro Martinez, the aces of staff, they always say this. If you get me 1 run, we have a good chance. Anybody can get lucky. You can make a mistake, they pop one, and it is 1-1. If you get me 2 runs, I can almost guarantee a win. Because I know I am not going to go out there and give up 3… It is about getting on the home team early, putting up a run or two, and giving Nola that little bit of space. It can easily be 2-0.”
