On Sunday the Eagles travel down to D.C. to take on the Commanders and their former QB Carson Wentz. And to get the scoop on what to expect from this Washington team, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington joined the show. How has Wentz been doing this year? What can we expect from Washington’s defense? JP Finlay spoke about that and more. Read what he had to say below.
On how people in Washington D.C. feel about their team
“Folks are actually optimistic about this offense. There are some really explosive playmakers at receiver. They have Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, and Terry McLaurin. They’re all playing really well. Carson Wentz is doing a good job of distributing the ball. So they can score. But they can’t stop anything. On the streets of Washington, there are some real concerns that Philly will come down here and put up 50”
On How Carson Wentz has Been For Washington So Far
“Whatever happened in Philly with Carson, we haven’t seen any of that. There has been some volatility. He’ll throw a pick trying to make a throw that maybe only two QBs in the world can make. So there is some of the roller coaster play that you guys experienced. But all the stuff I heard that happened off the field, no hints of it. There is none of that happening so far. Not to say that it wont happen if he doesn’t play as well. But hes playing pretty well. One thing maybe some people don’t realize is how bad the QB play has been here. Throwing for 30 tds is good, right? The Commanders haven’t had a QB throw for 30 TDS since Sonny Jurgenson int he late 60s. Carson Wentz has 7 tds in 2 games. People are fired up.”
On Washington’s Defense
“They are giving up 7.5 yards per carry. D’Andre Swift did whatever he wanted. Amon-ra St Brown broke a 50 yard run on them… Their D-Line is supposed to be the strength of this team. That is far more discussion than reality…They don’t have any depth. Their linebackers have been bad. There is probably a case they have the worst LBs in the league…If there was one sentiment that Commanders fans would say the most, it is that they want a change at defensive coordinator.”
