Earlier today, Jimmy Kempski joined ‘The Best Show Ever?’ to discuss the latest with the Eagles. How has Cam Jurgens looked in camp? Are Jalen Reagor and Andre Dillard going to be traded? Will the Eagles keep a 6th WR? Jimmy discussed all that and more. Here is some of what Jimmy had to say.
On If Andre Dillard Could Still Be Traded
“I don’t think they are just going to give him away, but certainly he is available. I think they have to get something that they pretty much can’t turn down. A 2nd round pick or a 3rd round pick from a team they are pretty sure is going to be bad. Offensive line depth is valuable. Eagles have lost O-lineman routinely over the past few years. Sometimes they have players who can fill in capably, and sometimes they don’t. When they don’t, that’s when seasons can go sideways. They have depth pretty much everywhere along the line. Should they trade Dillard, that LT spot would be questionable should Jordan Mailata go down… But with a team like this, where the roster is very very good. For the most part, they want to keep their players unless it is an offer they can’t turn down.”
On Cam Jurgens
“His athleticism is impressive. When he was picked Jason Kelce helped in watching centers, and he felt Cam Jurgens was the guy who most looked like himself. Sure enough, in the first preseason game, it looked like Kelce had changed his jersey number to 51 the way that Jurgens was making these athletic plays.
What has impressed me even more about him is that he is strong. He’s really held up the bull rushes well in addition to seeing him make these plays down the field. That is something Jason Kelce really struggled with early in his career. He’d get bullied by the bigger interior d-linemen that he faced. And that’s not something we are seeing from Jurgens. So I think the Eagles are in really good shape whenever Kelce decides to hang them up. They have a guy who’s going to step right in and maybe play here for a decade.”
On Jalen Reagor and if The Eagles Will Keep a 6th WR
“Certainly Jalen Reagor is available. There is no question about that. He’s not a guy they are just going to give away, but he could be moved before the season begins. If he is cut I think that opens the door for a guy like Deon Cain or maybe Britain Covey to make the team. But otherwise, I think there are better areas on the roster to keep guys than a 6th WR.”
