A few important numbers to help jump start a week with positivity!

  • I’VE SEEN THIS 76ers START BEFORE

The last two attempts at a post season run in 76ers land have started very similarly. In 2021 vs the Wizards the 76ers took a 2-0 lead in the series winning the first 2 games by 32 points. In 2022 vs the Raptors the 76ers took a 2-0 series lead winning the first 2 games by 35 points.

The 20 point victory on Saturday in Game 1 was most certainly praise worthy, but we have seen it before and should be expected. This isn’t the round where they should be sweating out the results.

What the 76ers need to correct is what happened AFTER those 2-o starts. In both seasons they began the series up 3-0 and then instead of putting the foot on the throat of their opponents they let them off the mat. The Wizards were winners in Game 4 before exiting in 5 and the Raptors won 2 games before finally succumbing in Game 6 which ended in a critical injury to Joel Embiid.

That should be the marching orders. The more you play, the more you put your team health risk and the less you rest. I’m excited to see what happens in Game Two tonight.

  • WHY SHOULD I BE LESS ANXIOUS ABOUT THE PHILLIES POOR START?

There are many reasons to breathe a little easier when your baseball team underachieves in April. A refresher course in perspective is in order for many Phillies fans. I hope this lowers your anxiety level.

Why is this so important to remember? This years team is better and deeper. They will get healthier and hopefully can stabilize the results as we head into the month of May.

  • (11-11)

The Phillies 22 game start in both 2021 and 2022. Last year the bottom fell out after they were at .500

  • (21-29)

The low water mark of the 2022 season and the record one day before the team fired Joe Girardi. Eight games below .500 is also a mark few division champions have ever overcome. Thankfully there are 3 wild card berths.

  • Why is panicking early in a baseball season about your favorite team dumb? June 2, 2022

The Phillies fire Joe Girardi at (22-29)

The Mets are (35-17) leading the NL East by 10.5 games over Atlanta and 12.5 games over Philadelphia

The eventual Eastern Division Champion Braves were (24-27) that morning coming off of a World Series Title.

  • Don’t forget these dates! What happened before October mattered little to the final story.

    October 9, 2022 – Mets season ends

    October 15, 2022 – Braves season ends

    November 5, 2022 – Phillies season ends
