INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 09: Jalen Carter #88 of the Georgia Bulldogs celebrates with a newspaper reading "Perfect!" after defeating the TCU Horned Frogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship game at SoFi Stadium on January 09, 2023 in Inglewood, California. Georgia defeated TCU 65-7.

Today is the final day of the NFL Draft. Before the start of round 1, the Eagles had no picks in rounds 4, 5, and 6, and had two in round 7. That has since changed and we saw that early this morning. After a day-two trade that landed Howie Roseman and the Eagles a 6th-round pick, Roseman traded a third-round pick in next year’s draft to land a 4th-round pick today.

That led to the Eagles selecting their 3rd Georgia Bulldog in this draft alone. This comes off of last year’s draft where the Eagles selected Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean out of the same University. Over the last 3 drafts now, the plan has been simple. Draft good players from successful programs, and the majority of those are from the SEC.

Not taking a shot at Howie Roseman here because he has done a tremendous job cleaning up the mess left by Carson Wentz, but… WE TOLD YOU SO!!! Sometimes it is good not to overthink it. As of the end of last season, here are the 7 college football programs with the most players in the NFL and who the Eagles have from those schools.

  • Alabama (58 Players)

The Eagles are rightfully being called Georgia North after this draft and last year’s as well, but Alabama is still at the top of producing NFL talent. No matter his age, Nick Saban just continues to run a factory in Tuscaloosa. In recent years, the Eagles have been in the front of the line to select talent from there. Here is who is on the roster:

    • Landon Dickerson
    • Josh Jobe
    • DeVonta Smith
    • Newly drafted Tyler Steen
    • Jalen Hurts (also Oklahoma)
  • LSU (52 Players)

I won’t say the Eagles should have Justin Jefferson. I won’t say the Eagles should have Justin Jefferson. I won’t say the Eagles should have Justin Jefferson. Oh, my bad. Things are better than they were so I will move on, eventually. The Eagles only have one player from LSU and we have yet to see him in action as he was just acquired this offseason:

    • Greedy Williams
  • Ohio State (52 Players)

Tied with LSU with 52 players the Buckeyes are another school that just pumps out talent. We saw 3 players from OSU get drafted in the first round of this year’s draft including 2 top 10 picks. Like LSU, the Eagles only have one player from this school. Just wait, we will get to Georgia soon. From OSU:

    • Tre Sermon

  • Georgia (44 Players)

I promised that we would get to Georgia soon. 44 seems like a low number especially because half of that is on the Eagles 53-man roster. The 44 will be updated at the start of the 2023 season so we will circle back to this. Here is who is on the Eagles including their recent picks:

    • Jordan Davis
    • Nakobe Dean
    • Jalen Carter
    • Nolan Smith
    • Kelee Ringo
    • D’Andre Swift
  • Notre Dame (37 Players)

The Irish come in at number 5 on this list, but not near the top 10 for the Eagles themselves. They only have one player, and he is a backup quarterback:

    • Ian Book
  • Penn State (35 Players)

Go Owls. 35 players is almost as many times Temple sacked Hackenberg. Okay, I will stop, keep reading Penn State fans. I need my clicks and my team doesn’t give me much glory. 35 players is a strong number when you compare Penn State to the other top schools in this list. Unfortunately, with Miles Sanders gone all you have is a guy who transferred out of Penn State:

    • Zech McPhearson
  • Florida (33 Players)

The Florida Gators AKA the Fighting Howies. Coming in at number 7 is somewhat shocking considering how disappointing their program has been in the last decade. Just 3 seasons with at least 10 wins in the last 10 years but still sending a lot of players to the NFL. The Eagles have 2 from UF:

    • Tyrie Cleveland
    • Fred Johnson
