Cesaro is the latest wrestler to leave the WWE following the reported expiration of his contract with the company.

Per PWinsider.com, Cesaro (real name Claudio Castagnoli) and the WWE “…had been in negotiations but had not come to terms on a new agreement.  One source noted that WWE did offer Cesaro an extension on his current deal but that was turned down.”

PWinsider.com also noted that since Cesaro’s contract expired and he was not let go that he will not have to abide by a 90-day non-compete clause.

Fightful Select would go on to report, “The immediate reaction from those within the company was disappointment and dismay, as Cesaro has been one of the most universally liked talent on the roster…There were plans to use Cesaro on upcoming shows, but that is no longer the case. We were told that at the time of the departure, there had been no long term creative plans for Cesaro, and that unless a new deal was reached, that would remain the case.”

As of publishing, news of Cesaro’s departure from WWE was the number three trending topic in the United States only behind the news of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Below are some notable reactions to the Cesaro news.
