PHILADELPHIA, PA - APRIL 27: Commissioner of the National Football League Roger Goodell speaks during the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on April 27, 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

See what Andrew Salciunas found in the Audio Vault today. Every day Andrew dives into the Vault to pull out Audio relevant to the day. And with the first round of the NFL draft taking place tonight, Andrew decided to look back on some NFL Draft memories for the Eagles and their fans. Specifically the good memories.

We all know there have been some bad ones. Every Eagles fan will tell you about the horrors of taking Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson or taking Marcus Smith, Danny Watkins, etc. But now is not a time to wallow on bad memories from the past. Things are good in Philly. The Eagles were in the Super Bowl last year. They lost, but they were a great team and brought a lot of those guys back. We have our franchise QB, and he just got locked up for 5 more years. This is a very good team. And despite the shaky history overall, the last few drafts have been much better for us.

So what Andrew did was he pulled up 5 good memories for us in the draft. The times we can look back on fondly, whether it be because of the player the Eagles go, or something else that happened. Even if they did not feel like they would be good memories at the time.

Here are 5 draft moments, worth remembering:

  • The Eagles Take Brandon Graham

The pick was not popular at the time. Eagles fans badly wanted Earl Thomas. And it took a long time for Eagles fans to warm up to him. His first few seasons were not productive from a sack standpoint. Though he did rack up a lot of QB Pressures. But over time, he won Eagles fans over. It was Graham that got a strip sack that helped the Eagles win their first Super Bowl. He may now be one of the most popular players in the Eagles’ history. A guy who will play his whole career here. And the best part is, he doesn’t hold it against Eagles fans that they didn’t like the pick at the time like a different guy who wore a jersey with the number 5 on it did.

  • Lane Johnson

One of the few good things Chip Kelly gave us. Johnson is now the best tackle in the league, a future Hall Of Fasmer, and someone who may spend his whole career in an Eagles uniform. And just go back and look at all the players taken around him, it was ugly. Pretty much no other players taken in the top 10 that year panned out, besides Lane Johnson. Not only did they avoid drafting a bust, which everyone else apparently did, but they got a Hall of Famer.

  • Philly Hosts The Draft

The first-round pick in 2017 is not a great moment. Derek Barnett did not work out here. But 2017 was still a great draft moment for Philly. It was the year we hosted the draft. And as a city, we crushed it. Despite the pick being disappointed, that whole draft still makes the list for how cool the Philly draft was. The FL may have messed it up by not coming back. But that doesn’t change the fact Philly looked great for those 3 days when we hosted the draft. We even stuck to our best behavior.

  • David Akers Taunts Cowboys Fans

The next year, the draft was held in Dallas. You may remember Drew Pearson went at it with Eagles fans when the draft was in Philly. So David Akers returned the favor in Dallas. And the former Eagles kicker did not hold back. He went off, talking about how the Eagles were Super Bowl Champions, and that no one being drafted that night was even alive the last time the Cowboys won anything. To make it even better, the Eagles took Dallas Goedert, someone the Cowboys wanted.

  • The Eagles take Jalen Hurts

Another pick that was not popular at the time. Man were we all wrong. Andrew admitted to being one of them. The pick made no sense at the time. Now it may be one of the best picks in team history. Jalen Hurts turned into an MVP Qb, and Carson Wentz won’t be a starter in the league next year. The Eagles just made Hurts the highest-paid player in NFL history. And he is worth it.
