IOWA CITY, IOWA- SEPTEMBER 30: Defensive back Cooper DeJean #3 of the Iowa Hawkeyes runs a punt return down the sideline during the second half against the Michigan State Spartans at Kinnick Stadium on September 30, 2023 in Iowa City, Iowa. Eagles Mock Draft

It is draft day. The biggest sports day of the year, that doesn’t involve an actual game. 32 picks, followed by 225 for picks over the following two days. As of now, the Eagles own 8 of those picks. One 1st, Two 2nds, a 4th, three 5ths, and a 6th.

Here Are All The Picks The Eagles Have This Year:

  • Round 1: No. 22
  • Round 2: No. 50
  • Round 2: No. 53
  • Round 4: No. 120
  • Round 5: No. 161
  • Round 5: No. 171
  • Round 5: No. 172
  • Round 6: No. 210

PHILADELPHIA, PA - JULY 28: General manager Howie Roseman of the Philadelphia Eagles talks to the media during training camp at the NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This is the Eagles. It is Howie Roseman. We know they won’t make all those picks in all those spots. He will trade up from a few, he will trade down from a few.

There are many possibilities for the Eagles in the 1st round. But my most confident prediction for that pick is it won’t be at pick 22.

That said, in this mock draft, I will not be making any trades. Mock drafts are hard enough when you are only predicting players. If you try predicting trades, trade compensations, it is even more of a crap shoot.

I will predict all 8 picks. If I am lucky, I will get 1 right. If I get 2 right, I might go buy some lottery tickets on Sunday.

We all know the drill here. Mock drafts are mostly wrong. But there are still thousands of them because we still love them.

Picking specific players for specific teams is incredibly difficult. But I still find it fascinating to read about the players and read about what types of players a team might be targeting.

After spending WAY too much time reading about the draft, reading about the players, and obsessing over it, I wanted to take my chance at a 7-round Eagles Mock Draft.

Here Is My 7 Round Eagles Mock Draft:

  • Round 1: Pick 22- CB- Cooper Dejean- Iowa

For each of the past two drafts, I did an experiment where I ran 1000 draft simulations. In both drafts, it predicted who the Eagles eventually picked. This year, after 10,000 simulations, it picked Cooper Dejean.

I don’t necessarily think it is actually a viable way to predict who they will pick. But as long as the hot streak is ongoing, I am going to ride it. So I have them taking Iowa Corner Cooper Dejean in the 1st round. It fills their biggest need, and it gets them a great player.

For what it is worth, if they go the usual Howie route, and take an O-Lineman, I like JC Latham to be the pick. However, that will require a trade-up.

  • Round 2: Pick 50- OT- Kingsley Suamataia- BYU

If they don’t go O-Line in the 1st, they will absolutely go there in the 2nd. If they go into day 3 having drafted no Offensive Linemen, I will be floored.

Kingsley is an elite athlete, who is very raw technique-wise. Pretty much exactly the type of guy Eagles like. If anyone in the NFL can teach an OT proper technique, it is Jeff Stoutland.

Taking someone with a crazy high upside, who will take a bit to develop, is the perfect fit for the Eagles. They have RT locked in for at least 2 more years with Lane. Kingsley could learn behind the best in the business, then be ready to takeover when it is time.

He is also Penei Sewell’s cousin.

If they go OL in Round 1, I like Rutgers CB Max Melton here instead.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - MARCH 03: Kingsley Suamataia #OL65 of Brigham Young participates in the 40-yard dash during the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 03, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Round 2: Pick 53- LB- Junior Colson- Michigan

The Eagles need a linebacker. All they have right now are question marks. Some interesting question marks.

I love the upside of Devin White, but he has yet to live up to his potential. I still like Nakobe Dean, but he is an undersized LB who suffered multiple injuries and has barely seen the field in two years.

Enter Junior Colson. Colson is not undersized. He is your prototypical strong Linebacker who almost never misses a tackle. He is no slouch in coverage either.

They spent the last two years collecting players from the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Now that there is a new National Champion, they might as well shop from them as well.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - FEBRUARY 28: Junior Colson #LB07 of the Michigan Wolverines speaks to the media during the 2024 NFL Draft Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 28, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Round 4: Pick 120- TE- Cade Stover- Ohio State

Brent Celek was 28 when the Eagles drafted Zach Ertz. Ertz was 28 when they drafted Dallas Goedert. Goedert is 29, injury-prone, and has 2-years left on his deal. I think the Eagles come away with a TE.

They might even do that in the 2nd round. Ben Sinnot and Ja’Tavion Sanders are in play for the Eagles at 50 or 53. But I have them waiting until round 4, and taking a former Edge Rusher, and Basketball player, who put up some big numbers at Ohio State.

The one downside is he is not much of a blocker. He is not hopeless there, but he could use a lot of work. Luckily the Eagles have a blocking expert on their staff who can maybe help there. Plus his elite athleticism for the position should eventually make him a dangerous pass catcher.

  • Round 5: Pick 161- WR- Jacob Cowing- Arizona

On top of needing a TE, Eagles also need a Slot WR.

Quez Watkins is gone. He was the right type of player you want in the slot for this team. Game-breaking speed. But he just lacked the production. Why not take the chance on another guy with blazing speed?

He played most of his snaps inside and was very productive there with 20 TDs over the last 2 seasons. Add someone who can take the top off from the slot, and this offense will be as close to flawless as you can get.

  • Round 5: Pick 171- ED- Mohamed Kamara- Colorado State

The Eagles made a few significant changes at Edge this off-season. They signed Bryce Huff and then traded Haason Reddick. Josh Sweat is also on the last year of his deal, after having it restructured.

If the Eagles had long-term plans for Sweat, they would have extended him, rather than just restructuring his current deal. That is not to say he is for sure gone, but the Eagles should plan ahead just in case he is.

Enter Mohamed Kamara, one of the more productive Edge Rushers in the draft. He had 13 sacks last year, 8.5 in 2022, and 7.5 in 2021.

So why is he projected to go in round 4? he is not the greatest athlete and relies too much on power to beat his blocker. But he is all over the tape and plays with a true will to get to the ball carrier. That type of effort can play at the next level. And even if he is not a star, he projects to be a rotational guy who can help whatever team takes him.

  • Round 5: Pick 172- DT- DeWayne Carter- Duke

DT is not a major need, but they do love to have depth there.

Fletcher Cox just retired. Milton Williams is in the last year of his deal. They would love to extend him but haven’t yet. The same goes for Marlon Tuipulotu. They drafted Moro Ojomo, but he didn’t show enough to lock in his future with the team.

Which makes me think they will take one at some point. They need depth pieces behind Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. And DeWayne Carter is a very interesting prospect. He was productive in college and moves well for an Interior Lineman. He projects well to be a decent rotational piece.

He was also a team captain, and the Eagles have a history of loving drafting guys who were leaders in college.

  • Round 6: Pick 210- S- Omar Brown- Nebraska

Cj Gardner Johnson gave them one sure thing at safety. The rest are still up in the air. Reed Blankenship left a lot to be desired in his 1st year as a starter. And Sydney Brown didn’t play much and then got injured. Making Safety a slight need.

The 6th round is a bit of a crapshoot. All the guys taken there could feasibly also end up a UDFA. I like the idea of taking high upside guys there. Which is what Omar Brown is.

He has good size and speed for a safety. He matches up well against Tight ends in coverage. he also plays well against the run.

He has his issues, which is why he is going late on day 3. But he is a player who could one day develop into a starter. That is what you like in a late-day 3 pick.
