Philadelphia Phillies top the Cincinnati Reds in the 2023 home opener.

It might have been a day later than originally planned when the Phillies schedule was announced, but the first pitch was finally thrown out at Citizens Bank Park on Friday, April 7, 2023.

The Phillies welcomed fans back for the Phillies 2023 Home Opener with the pomp and circumstance associated with unveiling the 2022 National League Pennant. On Sunday (4/9) the 2022 National League championship ring will be presented to the players in an on-field ceremony.

After the ceremonial first pitch, thrown out by Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, the team got down to business. After the Reds tied the game late in the sixth inning, J.T. Realmuto hit a 448-foot, two-run homer to give the Phillies some breathing room.

Hopefully, the Phillies will pick up right where they led off Saturday, first pitch 4:05p. They will also be looking for their first win streak.

The Phillies didn’t kick off the season the way they or any of their fans were hoping to dropping the first three games of the season while on the road.

According to Anthony Gargano, this is no time for Phillies fans to panic.

But I can feel the angst from everyone. It is like this pressure that is just there. It is 4 games in and I already feel it. Just relax. They could be 5-15, and I will still have the same reaction. Once you get into June, that is when you go alright, better turn it on. We haven’t even reached double digits in April. I can’t go 4 games, the sky is falling.
