Eagles Center Jason Kelce To Retire: Report
We all knew it was coming, but it doesn’t make it any easier. Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce is retiring after the Eagles’ 32-9 loss to the Bucs in the Wild Card round. This, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
There were rumors last year, and Kelce talks about it in his Amazon Prime documentary, that he was seriously considering retirement after the 2022-2023 season.
Kelce was extremely emotional as he left the field after the loss to the Bucs in Tampa Monday Night (1/15). He did not speak to reporters after the game either only saying saying: “No guys, not today.” according to Adam Schefter. There also hasn’t been an “official” announcement of his retirement from Kelce or his team at the time of publishing.
The Legend
It goes without question that Kelce is a future Hall of Famer. His resume is incredible. Six-time All-Pro, 7-time Pro-Bowler, and one EPIC Super Bowl speech. Yes, Jason Kelce certainly deserved better than the fate that he got.
A former 6th-round pick out of the University of Cincinnati in the 2011 draft Jason Kelce saw everything during his time with the Eagles. Originally flourishing under then-offensive line coach Howard Mudd, he became a staple in Jeff Stoutland’s system. He was here under Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson and Nick Sirianni and all four coaches sang the praises of #62.
Who can forget his 2018 Super Bowl victory speech on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum while wearing a Mummer costume? No one likes us, we don’t care”
One of the most popular Eagles of all time is finally done. And it goes without saying (but I’ll say it) but he will be missed.
Thanks for everything.
