The Flyers are off to a 2-0 start, and it certainly didn’t happen without the coaching of Tortorella. Throughout training camp it was evident that Tortorella focused on conditioning, playmaking, and hard work the Flyers definitely needed installed in them. Players such as Konecny and Laughton keep mentioning how impactful the camp was. The intensity and regrouping have made the Flyers look like a brand-new team despite the lack of player moves this off-season.

Saturday’s afternoon game was a big test for the orange and black as they trailed by two after the first period to the Vancouver Canucks. With all that Tortorella installed in the team during the intensity of the camp; it was their big test to put what they learned into action. DeAngelo scored his first goal as a Flyer putting them on the board. Laughton was able to finish the second period with a short-handed goal equalizing the game at two.

Ultimately, the third period was a reenactment of the Flyers who played excellent Thursday night against the Devils. They were aggressive, relentless, and had a great penalty kill. Hart was phenomenal in net as he was locked in not allowing any more pucks get behind him, and credits the PK and Deangelo’s goal. Konecny gave the Flyers their game-winning goal. With three straight goals in a row, the Flyers had a comeback that proved everything Tortorella said during the camps. The Flyers won 3-2.

Without a doubt, the energy executed on ice these past two games looks like a completely different team. There are elements that need improvement such as passing and their power play, but that will come within time as the confidence is exhibited more from the orange and black.

The Flyers have a challenging schedule coming up as they go to Florida going up against the Lightning, Panthers, and end their first stretch of road games in  Nashville against the Predators. There is no question this will be a challenging stretch of games as the Flyers are not nearly as skilled as their upcoming matchups, but, if they come out of this trip with 2 points it would be a success.
