Flyers Trade Claude Giroux To Florida
The Philadelphia Flyers answered the biggest question of the season Saturday night; Where was Claude Giroux ending up. The Flyers traded their long time captain to the Panthers for forward Owen Tippett and a slew of draft picks.
The official deal is Giroux, Connor Bunnaman, former 1st rounder German Rubtsov and a 2024 5th round pick for Tippett, a 2023 3rd round pick, and a 2024 first round pick.
Can confirm the final deal is:

for
2024 1st, 2023 3rd, and Owen Tippett.
The big issue for the Flyers was Giroux’s no movement clause. This allowed Giroux to pick where he wanted to go and apparently he did. He nixed deals to both Boston and New York which left Colorado and Florida with Giroux preferng Florida. The Flyers had one option and that option (the Panthers) didnt have much to offer in draft picks.
Tippett is the former 10th overall pick who fell out of favor in Florida because he is considered a top-6 forward and those spots are taken on the Panthers. He has played 94 games in the NHL to limited success (33 points) but the 23 year old should enjoy more playing time with the Flyers.
He is also a red head, so the Flyers traded a red head for a red head…..file that away under useless tidbits.
Now the Flyers will look to trade any other players of value as the team looks to the future.
