Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher: “Im Gonna Let This Thing Ride”
Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher joined the John Kincade Show and discussed the decision to let go former head coach Alain Vigneault. A common theme during the interview was identity. The Flyers dont seem to have one and Chuck Fletcher all but confirmed it.
“We need to find out what we are. Are we capable of playing with good teams? Or are we not there yet. Answering that question will dictate the direction we go.”
But are the Flyers currently looking for a head coach? Right now, former assistant Mike Yeo has been placed in the interim role of head coach. Some teams, like the Vancouver Canucks, acted quickly and hired a coach right away. Are the Flyers looking to fill the void? Or let it ride?
“Im gonna let this thing ride,” Fletcher told Kincade. “I dont know what this team is. Whats our identity? What are our strengths and weaknesses? Id like to see what we are. And all these things are tied together when youre trying to get the right coach. So we’ll let it play out.”
