The last chance for losing teams to trade away their star players, and the last chance for competitive teams to improve their roster. Teams have until 4 p.m. today to make any final moves before all trades are put on pause until the offseason.
It used to be NFL deadline day was not all that busy. But that all changed last year. In 2022, 10 trades were made on trade deadline day alone, the most of all time. That doesn't even include trades like Christian McCaffrey and Roquon Smith that happened before trade deadline day. Names like Bradley Chubb and TJ Hockenson were moved, creating one of the crazier trade deadlines in NFL History.
Howie has already been a bit busy, adding Safety Kevin Byard from the Titans. But does he have anything else up his sleeve? Rumors have flown around saying he has interest in another linebacker or some O-Line depth. Will he pull the trigger? Or is Howie content with the roster they already have? What about the rest of the NFL? Will the Cowboys try to make a move to keep up with their NFC rivals? What about the Niners? Which big names could be on the move? If the NFL trade deadline is as busy as it was last year, there could be a lot of moves happening today.
Keep track of all the final moves NFL team makes before the Deadline right here:
Bills Get Much Needed Help at CB in Rasul Douglass
Eagles fans are familiar with Rasul Douglas. Since leaving here, he has gone on to be a mainstay in the Packers' secondary. But now a Bills team desperate for CB help after some injuries brings in a solid starter for a 3rd round pick.
Lions Add Another WR in Donovan Peoples-Jones
The Lions didn't exactly need more WR help. Amon-Ra St Brown, Jameson Williams, Josh Reynolds, and you can throw in TE Sam LaPorta was already a decent haul of weapons. But one more can't hurt and Donovan Peoples-Jones has shown potential in the past.
49ers Bring in Chase Young
After losing 3 straight games, the 49ers brought in some help. They sent a 3rd round pick to Washington to bring back star pass rusher Chase Young. Young has missed most of the past two seasons with injuries but has 5.5 sacks since returning this season.
Vikings Acquire Josh Dobbs
The Vikings were desperate after Kirk Cousins went down for the season. That led to them trading for Josh Dobbs. Dobbs had been starting in place of Kyler Murray all year, but now he at the very least gets to continue starting and gets to throw to Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson, and eventually Justin Jefferson.
Bears Trade For Montez Sweat For Some Reason
Montez Sweat is a great player and would have been a great addition to a good team. The Bears are not a good team. Trading for an older player, with an expiring deal, when you are not a contender, is dumb. They traded for Chase Claypool last year and that made no sense. This trade makes even less sense unless it comes with an extension. Bears continue to baffle by making the moves of a Contender when they are still rebuilding.
Eagles tock up on Picks By Trading Kentavius Street
Street was barely getting any snaps here. The Falcons were willing to give the Eagles picks for him. They gave up STreet and a future 7th and got back a 6th. Nothing too big, but it's extra ammo to maybe make another move before the deadline.
Seahawks Acquire Leonard Williams From Gaints
A trade that works out well for both teams. The Giants are not as close as they thought, so they get some extra ammo, including a 2nd round pick to rebuild, and the Seahawks, who are currently at the top of the NFC West get an elite DT to help improve their defense.
Eagles Add Kevin Byard
The Eagles needed Safety help, so Howie went out and got the best one on the market and didn't even have to give up that much. Two day 3 picks, and he already got one back by trading Kentavius Street.
Chiefs Bring Back Mecole Hardman
The Chiefs badly needed WRs. Mecole Hardman is not going to fix those issues completely. But it's better than what they had, and he has experience with the team and Mahomes.
