Philly Beer Week is Back! 6 Events We’re Definitely Checking Out (And 89 More to Consider)

Philly Beer Week returns! Beginning Friday, June 2nd, beer lovers can look forward to ten full days of festivals, collabs, takeovers and outrageous events at their favorite bars and breweries.

The event, which began in 2008, is one of the nation’s largest celebrations of its kind. It highlights breweries from around the Delaware Valley and welcomes breweries from around the world who travel in to participate. Everyone from the biggest untapped aficionados to the casual beer list browsers are invited to come out! With over 100 events planned, it’s easy to find an event near you or take a trip to taste a new brew.

The Philly Beer Week ten-day party kicks off Friday at noon with a 7-hour relay that sends the Hammer of Glory to 15 of the city’s best beer bars. phillylovesbeer.com has the schedule of stops, as well as the master list of all the events planned for the week.

We plucked out a few that wet our whistle:

  • Night of the Goats with Sly Fox

    Two goats runners, Mocha and Latte, will be on hand to meet and greet with everyone – including dogs at this pup friendly bar. Sly Fox beers will be on tap plus Sly Fox giveaways.

  • Logjammin’ Lager Fest

    Human Robot Brewery throws the city’s largest lager fest welcoming 60 of the finest breweries in the USA for a beautiful afternoon of lagerbier drinking, camaraderie, education and most of all, good ole fashioned fun. All proceeds go to The Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling.

  • Iron Hill Alumni Event @ Varga Bar

    Current & Former members of the Iron Hill Brewing staff will be hanging throughout the night that will feature beers from Iron Hill, Double Nickel, Sacred Vice, New Ridge, 2SP, Flying Fish, Mad Chef, King’s Road, and Love City (all of which have ties to the craft beer juggernaut!) Plus, owner of Iron Hill, Mark Edelson, will be guest bartending with all the tips during that time will go to charity!

  • Still Waters Brewfest

    Hosted by Brothers Kershner Brewing Co. & Montco Makers, the Still Waters Brewfest features 30 local breweries, live music, local eats and benefits the Skippack Historical Society.

    Saturday, June 3rd  |  12p – 5p

  • Canwood Derby @ Good Dog Bar

    Pick up an official derby car kit at the bar or your local hobby shop and trick it out with your own beer-themed modifications. Then come out to compete in the 8th annual Can Wood Derby with Sly Fox, Mainstay, and Troegs. Note: Your car must include an entire, empty, 12oz can in its design. Full rules posted on the Good Dog Facebook Page.

    Friday, June 9th  | Registration starts at 5pm race starts at 7pm sharp. 

  • Strike a Pose Lip Sync Challenge @ Fat Lady Brewing

    Kick off pride month with a celebration of queer culture, a good old fashion lip sync smackdown! Hosted by Stefani Steel and Lucy Moth, 6 contestants will go head to head in a runway and lip-sync challenge to win over the judges and audience!
