On Friday evening, an equipment failure released hazardous materials at the Trinseo Altuglas water treatment plant. More than 8,000 gallons of latex emulsion leaked into Otter Creek which flows into the Delaware River.  The water way which supplies water to the eastern half of Philadelphia.

During a press conference today (3/27) at 5pm, the Philadelphia Water Department is confident that tap water from the Baxter Drinking Water Treatment Plant will remain safe to drink and use at least through 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28.
