Last night Jeurys Familia nearly blew an 8-2 lead. He took what should have been an easy win, and made it a close 8-7 game, that Seranthony Dominguez had to come in and save. The worst part, is absolutely no one was shocked. Jeurys Familia has been terrible all year. His ERA is now up to 6.00, and his WHIP is up to 1.818. And that is across 33 innings of work. It’s not like a few bad outings are bloating that. The Phillies have used him a lot, he just sucks. He is literally among the worst relief pitchers in baseball. It is a disaster nearly every time he comes into a game. The Phillies are paying him $6 million to suck.
His absolute dismal season was the topic of discussion today on The Anthony Gargano Show. Andrew Salciunas filled in for Anthony, and he asked the question, who are the worst athletes in Philadelphia sports history? Specifically, he was interested in guys who got paid big money and still sucked while they were in this city. Some of those guys had hype when they came here. Others, like Jeurys Familia, fans were down on as soon as they signed here. But as long as they were overpaid, and then sucked, they qualified for the list.
So what names got brought up on the show? Who are the biggest free agent or trade busts to ever come through Philly? Here are 10 of the worst contracts in Philadelphia sports history. Including Nnamdi Asomugha, Andrew Bynum, Chris Weber, and more. These are the guys that the local team owners wasted way too much money on.
