9-Year-Old Phillies Fan Rings The Bell To Celebrate Last Chemo Treatment

9 year-old Frankie LaSasso of Hammonton, New Jersey, completed his last cancer treatment this week. The young baseball fan rang the bell at Wednesday night’s Phillies game to celebrate. His shirt read “Ring the Bell! I Just Did!” His family in the stands, nearly filling a whole section, all wore matching t-shirts in support of Frankie. Not only did Frankie ring the bell in front of the whole stadium, but he also had a catch with Devin Smeltzer from the Miami Marlins. Smeltzer, from Vorhees Township, was also diagnosed with cancer at 9 years old. The two bonded over being left-hand pitchers.

The Phillies posted the video to Twitter with the caption,

“On Wednesday, Frankie LaSasso, completed his final chemotherapy treatment for Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Frankie rang the bell to signify this accomplishment in the best way possible.
