Good Luck Sticking With The Eagles Physically For 60 Minutes
There is a pattern to all of these Eagles wins that continue to stack up. They come out of the gate slowly, people panic, but then as the game goes on they slowly start to impose their will on the other team.
Look at the most recent game vs the Ravens. The Ravens scored on both of their first two drives, getting a FG and a TD. They had 133 yards on those two drives. In the next 8 drives, they managed just 169 yards and scored only 3 points.
Meanwhile, the offense didn’t score on the first 4 drives. They weren’t even moving the ball. But then they threw up 14 points to close out the first half. They added another 10 points in the 2nd half, all 10 coming in the 4th quarter.
The common factor in how they turn around every game is physicality. They keep beating you up until you break. Once that dam breaks, there is no stopping the Eagles, on either side of the ball. We keep complaining about the bad starts, but maybe it is all part of setting up what they do. Like a boxer letting their opponent wear themselves out, before beating the crap out of them in the later rounds.
The Best Show Ever Talks About Eagles Physicality
This is exactly what The Best Show Ever talked about after that Eagles win. On Monday, Tyrone had this to say about what the Eagles do to these teams.
“This team has been resilient. This team has been tough because they’re physical. And we’ve been saying good luck to any team that could stick with this squad physically for 60 consecutive minutes.
The Ravens had a nice start, but they couldn’t do it at the end. At the end of the day this Eagles team once again imposed their will physically upon their opponent. And by the time the clock hit zero, they’re victorious again. Eight in a row. 10-2.
Nick Sirianni deserves credit. This offensive line deserves credit. Saquon Barkley deserves credit. But where we start today is on the defensive side of the ball. Vic Fangio’s crew comes up huge. They held a team that was routinely scoring over 30 under 20. Jalen Carter. Baun. Quinyon Mitchell, etc.. This defense is special.”
