Carter Hart Out Indefinitely For “Personal Reasons”
A season that was going exceptionally well for the Flyers has hit a snag. Goaltender Carter Hart will be out indefinitely. A reason for his absence has not been specified, other than it is for personal reasons.
Speculating on what those reasons may be right now feels pointless. It could be for a multitude of reasons. But until we have more information, it would be inappropriate to guess at what may be going on.
All we know for now is that it takes away what has been one of the Flyers biggest strengths this season. The goalie rotation of Carter Hart and Samuel Errson is a big reason why the team has over achieved this season. Despite the low expectations coming into the season, they currently sit at 2nd in the Metropolitan Division. And as a team they are 8th in Goals Allowed Average at 2.79.
Carter Hart is 12-9 this season with a 2.8 GAA. Errson has outperformed him to this point in the season. His record is 12-6, with a GAA of 2.36. But you could easily argue the heavy rotation has played a part in Errson’s success. And losing Hart could put more strain on the young goalie than the Flyers wanted to at this point. He may be asked to play more games now though. A subsection of fans have called more him to take the reigns and to push Hart out more. Now we will get to find out if he is truly capable of doing so.
