Eagles Acquire All-Pro Safety Kevin Byard From The Titans
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - OCTOBER 01: Kevin Byard #31 of the Tennessee Titans celebrates against the Cincinnati Bengals at Nissan Stadium on October 01, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Howie Roseman continues to be a magician. Safety has been an issue for the Eagles all season long. Between injuries, and guys on the team like Terrell Edmunds struggling, it has probably been the weakest position on the team. So rumors quickly started to swirl that Howie Roseman was shopping in the Safety market. And it looks like he found his guy. The Eagles have acquired Two-Time All-Pro Safety Kevin Byard. They send Terrell Edmunds, plus a 5th and 6th-round pick back to the Titans. Ian Rapoport was the first to report the deal.
Byard has for years been among the league’s premier Safeties. He has no interceptions yet this season but had 9 total between 2021 and 2022. Byard was an All-Pro in both 2021 and back in 2017 when he had a career-high 8 interceptions. He has 27 total over his 8-year career.
Byard will step in and immediately be one of the starting Safeties alongside Reed Blankenship, whenever Reed gets healthy. The Eagles were forced to play two backups in their most recent game against the Dolphins. And while the defense held the Dolphins to just 10 points, the one TD came when Terrell Edmunds failed to give James Bradberry deep support, and Tyreek Hill went over the top for a TD. Now the guy who made that mistake gets replaced by an elite Safety, and probably the best option the Eagles had to fill their hole at Safety.
It is the latest example of Howie making an in-season move to address a glaring hole on the team. Last year the Eagles’ run defense was terrible, so he went out and signed Linval Jospeph and Ndamukong Suh. Back in 2017, they needed another RB, and he acquired Jay Ajayi. Now he goes out and acquires a top Safety to fill the Eagles’ most glaring hole. And a defense that just shutdown the best Offense in the NFL is suddenly that much better. Thank you, Howie.

Eagles-Dolphins: Bringing Back Kelly Green in 2023 [GALLERY]
The Philadelphia Eagles brought back the Kelly Green uniforms in 2023 for a memorable win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football.
While the throwbacks don’t bring up memories of an era of glory, fans obsess over the legacy the unforms represent. It wasn’t difficult to notice when Lincoln Financial Field was flooded with Kelly Green gear on Sunday night.

The Eagles certainly backed up their head coach’s statement with their most impressive win of the 2023 season. The Dolphins came in with all the hype.
However, they couldn’t handle Philadelphia. The Eagles shut down the supposedly high-powered attack in a comfortable 31-17 victory.
Sirianni wore the threads with authority as the home crowd cheered on the Birds. An outstanding performance from the defensive line inspired nostalgia for beloved teams with Reggie White and Jerome Brown. White’s son even attended the game and drew a loud ovation from the Philadelphia crowd.
A Love Affair for Eagles Fans
The Eagles are more central to the culture of their city than any other team in the NFL. Generations of Philadelphians have passed down fandom to their children and grandchildren. Wearing the Kelly Green has become a tribute to the long history.
It reminds Eagles fans that they’ve taken a few punches to get to a point when they can appreciate modern success while honoring the roots of a beloved tradition and the identity of the fan base.
The love affair became obvious when the Kelly Green gear flew off the shelves when the Eagles released the merchandise over the summer of 2023 and announced the plans for the Dolphins game.
Fans wore that gear proudly to create an aesthetic spectacle at the Linc for Sunday Night Football.
