Todd Fedoruk Is A Certified Badass
Fans of the Philadelphia Flyers will get used to hearing the name Todd Fedoruk again during the 2023-24 season. The former NHL enforcer will begin as the new radio color commentator for 97.5 The Fanatic.
He joined The John Kincade Show for their monthly First Friday broadcast to talk about his new role, his career as one of the toughest players in hockey, and a hilarious story about finishing a 64-ounce steak to win a bet in front of his Flyers teammates.
Todd Fedoruk
“The Fridge” played 268 of his 545 career NHL games with the Flyers in parts of five of his nine seasons in the league. He also spent his fair share of time at the Spectrum with the (former) Philadelphia Phantoms.
He carved out a role as an enforcer beginning in the era before the 2004-05 lockout when teams put a significantly higher priority on the best fighters to protect their top scorers. The Flyers advanced to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons.
Fedoruk talked about some of the toughest players he fought during his NHL career. He named notorious tough guys like Georges Laraque and Derek Boogaard (all 6-foot-7 of him). Ryan VandenBussche was his sleeper pick as an undersized tough guy. He also dropped the gloves with big names like George Parros, Tie Domi, and Jody Shelley during his career.
Fedoruk finished his career with 1050 penalty minutes, and he even beat the absolute brakes off hated pest Matthew Barnaby once. He was never afraid to spend five minutes in the sin bin.
“There’s nobody I ever said, ‘Hell no’ to. It was always ‘Let’s go!’” -Todd Fedoruk
Fedoruk, Flyers on 97.5 The Fanatic
Fedoruk will replace the legendary Steve Coates in 97.5 The Fanatic’s booth at the Wells Fargo Center next to play-by-play announcer Tim Saunders.
He spoke on The John Kincade Show about the authenticity of John Tortorella, the importance of the head coach’s attitude toward his players, and how the return of Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson will help the 2023-24 Flyers take another step in the rebuild.
He believes in presenting the rebuild to the fan base with a sincere and realistic sense. Check out the full interview on YouTube.
Watch The John Kincade Show live on the 97.5 The Fanatic YouTube page on weekday mornings from 6am-10am.
