Assessing the Eagles Biggest Needs At The Start of Training Camp
Football is back. Well almost. We have a month and change of training camp/ pre-season before the Eagles start their season traveling up to Foxborough to play the Patriots. The Eagles finally get a chance to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss in the Super Bowl. And we can start to see how this new roster compares to what was an All-Time great roster in Eagles history last season.
Even though last year’s team came up short, it is still kind of amazing just how good that roster was. On paper, there were not many holes. The D-Line and O-Line were both the best in the league. You could argue the WR and CB rooms were the best in the league. Jalen Hurts was the runner-up for MVP. Goedert was a top 5 TE. And Miles Sanders had a 1000-yard season.
But how does this roster stack up? Are there holes this season that were not there last season? A lot of starters left in free agency. CJ Garnder Johnson, Marcus Epps, TJ Edwards, Kyzir White, Javon Hargrave, Isaac Seumalo, and Miles Sanders all signed elsewhere. That is a lot of spots to fill. But to Howie Roseman’s credit, he was very busy this offseason filling all of those holes with a great draft and some key free-agent moves. And they could add more.
Howie Roseman has a reputation for continuing to make moves into the Pre-Season. He added CJ Gardner-Johnson last season and added Ronald Darby the year they won the Super Bowl. So if there is still a need, it should not be a surprise if Howie finds a way to address it before the season starts.
What should they be shopping for though? Safety again? Linebacker? Wide Receiver? Let’s look at some of the positions people are throwing out there as needs and find out if it is something they need to fix before the end of Training Camp.
