That is more like it. The Eagles have not looked quite right all season. It came to a head in week 6 when they finally lost in embarrassing fashion to the Jets. And with the much-hyped Dolphins coming to town, there were some nervous fans in the Delaware Valley. But of course, that was when they had their best game of the season. Not only did they beat them 31-17, but they pretty much shut down the vaunted Dolphins offense.
The Dolphins came into the game leading the league in both passing and rushing yards. They left with just 255 total yards. The Dolphins came into the game first in points. They scored just 17, and only 10 on offense. It was the full team performance we have been waiting for all year long. And with the Lions and 49ers both losing, it means they sit alone atop the NFC for now.
To make things even better, they went out and made a big trade for an All-Pro Safety the next day. Now they can throw Darius SLay, James Bradberry, and Kevin Byard out in the secondary, with Reed Blankenship eventually filling that final Safety spot once he is healthy. Suddenly this defense is stacked, the same way it was last year. And suddenly the Eagles are looking more and more like they did in 2022, while some of their biggest competition have hit speed bumps in recent weeks.
This is still a dominant team. The defense has been playing great the last few weeks, and the offense, despite some hiccups, is still very productive. They will be right in the mix come playoff team to once against represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. If you don’t believe me, I can prove it.
Here are 6 numbers that show the Eagles are still one of the most dominant teams in the NFL:
