Conputer Mock Draft 4.0- A Milton Williams Replacment
It is Mock Draft Monday, which means it is time for another computer-simulated Eagles draft. I let the computer pick the players, and we look at the results. In Mock Draft 4.0, the computer has the Eagles moving around a ton, and predicted Howie to make some questionable decisions.
Computer-Simulated Mock Draft 4.0
Round 1, Pick 32- DT- Walter Nolen- Ole Miss
Milton Williams is gone, and the Eagles could use another DT. Jordan Davis is not a 3-down player, and while Moro Ojomo has showed promise, who knows if he is ready for a full time role.
Enter Walter Nolen. A highly touted prospect out of Ole Miss. Many sites had him as the top recruit in his High School Class a few years ago. It took him a while to get going, but after transferring from Texas A&M to Ole Miss, his production took off.
We have a full breakdown of him as a prospect below.

Nolen would be a great get at 32. Many people believe he is the 2nd best DT in the draft. There are vague talks of “character concerns,” but unless someone can come out with concrete examples of him causing problems, I have to discount those reports. They reek of teams trying to push a narrative hoping they can get a guy to fall in the draft.
*TRADE* Round 2, Pick 44- OG- Donovan Jackson- Ohio State
The Eagles took a big swing in round 2. They combined picks 64, 96, and 134, their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks, to move up to pick 44 (with the Cowboys), and get their future RG, Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State.
Would that be worth it? Well, he is a good prospect. He gave up only 5 sacks and 8 QB hits over the last 3 seasons at Ohio State. But giving up a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th round pick for a RG, when you already have a couple of options on the roster, and he is not the best OG in the draft, seems like too much.
If they took him at pick 64, it would be a great pick, but giving up this much to get him would be a head shaker for Howie Roseman. Especially with so many needs heading into the draft. Jackson better end up being an All-Pro RG if this were to happen.
*TRADE* Round 4- Pick 132- EDGE- Tyler Baron- Miami
Eagles traded up again. If they didn’t, they would not have been on the clock again until round 5. Instead, they package 2 of their 4 5th-round picks (161 and 165) and they land Tyler Baron out of Miami.
One thing Baron offers that the Eagles tend to love is positional versatility. He moved inside and out on Miami’s line. Thus far in his young career, he is more of a steady presence than a disruptive force. He has nice size and is relatively athletic. He flashed major upside in a dominant performance vs Florida A&M, but he was closer to average for most of the season.
Round 5- Pick 164- CB Upton Stout- Western Kentucky
Stout is undersized even by nickel corner standards. He plays bigger than his 5’8 frame suggests he could, but that aggressiveness can get him in trouble too. Combine being undersized, coming from a small school, with having some technique issues, and it is tough to project him into the NFL.
But a true nickel corner could be a real need. It is unclear right not if the Eagles plan to keep Cooper DeJean inside. If they want to move him outside, they need nickel corner depth. If that is the plan, drafting Stout makes more sense.
Round 5- Pick 168- EDGE Kaimon Rucker- UNC
Rucker is a slightly undersized Edge Rusher with adequate production at UNC. Like Stout, scouts seem to have a hard time projecting him into the NFL.
At UNC he was decent getting after the passer, but struggled vs the run. You can’t expect perfect prospects on day 3, but you probably want someone with more upside than Rucker seems to offer. Especially when you have already given up so much draft capital in this draft, you want to come away with guys who have a chance to outperform their draft slot. Does Rucker have that chance to do that? Scouts don;t seem to think so.
