NFL Cap Will Take A Massive $22 Million Leap For 2025
Howie Roseman is always ahead of the pack. For years he has backloaded contracts, knowing that as the cap space goes up, contracts will become easier to manage. But with the latest news of what the NFL Cap will look like next season, he looks even smarter. Because for the 2025 season, the cap is estimated to climb up to at least $277.5 million, up from $255.4 million this past season.
The jump, once finalized, will represent an increase of at least $22 million, and up to $26 million. It opens it up to all teams to spend more, but because of Howie handles the cap, they are in the perfect position to take advantage of that bump.
How Eagles Benefit From The NFL Cap Increase

The Eagles routinely give out big singing bonuses, then spread out the cap hit for those deals in void years way down the line. Many criticize that plan under the assumption it will eventually catch up to them. But leaps like this show how Howie was ahead of the curve. Suddenly those future dead cap hits are not going to hit anywhere near as hard. And this is just the start. Big jumps like this could become the norm as TV Deals for the league get more and more expensive.
Howie also keeps cap hits lower by getting deals done earlier. He was the first to sign his franchise QB a couple of years ago. At the time it made Jalen Hurts the highest-paid QB in the league. Hurts is already down to 9, and will soon fall out of the top 10. By setting the market, they save in the long run, as every team who follows them has to pay their guy even more.
This isn’t just about helping them acquire new talent, but keeping their own. After next season Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith will be eligible for extensions. They have decisions to make about Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis soon. They have to pay Zack Baun. This new flexibility makes it easier to do that.
