Jake Elliott Wins Special Teams Player Of the Week For 2nd Time This Season
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - OCTOBER 01: Jake Elliott #4 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates kicking the game winning field goal in overtime to defeat the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field on October 01, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jake Elliott has been as good as kickers can get this season. It started off week 1, where a 4 for 4 performance on Field Goals earned him Special Teams Player of The Week. In week 2, he kicked a 61-yard FG before Halftime. And in week 4, he went 5 for 5, including the game-winning 54-yard kick in OT. All of that was enough to net him his second Special Teams Player of the Week award.
It is the 5th time Jake Elliott has won Player of the Week. Pushing him further up the All-Time leaderboard with the Eagles. Donovan McNabb (8), David Akers (7), and Desean Jackson (7) are the only Eagles to have won it more than Elliott.
Elliott is now 13-14 on FGs this season. he is 4 for 5 from 50+ yards and 1-1 from 60+ yards. Elliott is starting to build a case for being the best kicker in Eagles history. David Akers set a high standard. But all Elliott has done since joining the Eagles in 2017 is hit clutch kicks. And while Akers never hit 3 50+ FGs in a single season, Elliott has now done it in 4 of his 7 seasons. Elliott is 6 for 7 on FGs of 56+ yards or more.
Jake Elliott is currently tied with Cowboys Kicker Brandon Aubrey for the league lead in points with 48. Apart from one missed 55-yard FG, and one missed extra point in bad weather, he has been flawless.

6 Numbers To Bring Some Positivity To Eagles The Day After A Win
The Eagles are 4-0. That should be a great thing. But the city is sure not acting like it. After a close win over the Commanders, which was way more stressful than it needed to be, the city is a bit on edge today. Most of the vibe has been negative. People are worried about Brian Johnson as a playcaller. Worried about Sean Desai as a defensive playcaller. Just by listening to how people are reacting, you would think they were 1-3 and suffered a loss yesterday.
And some of those reactions are fair. They have not been as crisp as we hoped they would be coming into the season. Injuries have hurt them early, and the new coordinators haven’t quite adjusted or found the right approach yet.
But they are 4-0. So can we have a little positivity? You know who is not 4-0? Every other team in the league apart from the Niners. The Chiefs just swelled out a win over the Jets and lost Opening Week to the Lions. They would have loved if that Lions game was an ugly win. The Bills lost to the Jets. We just saw the Dolphins get blown out of the water. And the Cowboys dropped a game to the Cardinals.
There are no style points in the NFL. There is no committee that weighs these things at the end of the season to determine playoff seeds. Wins are wins, whether it takes a OT FG, or if you win by 3 touchdowns. So far all the Eagles have done is win. And despite how people are reacting, they have done some good things in these wins. So let’s focus on those positives. Because again, they are 4-0, people are somehow ignoring that fact.
Here are 6 numbers to bring some much-needed positivity to the Eagles’ start of the season:
