The Eagles Unveil Their New Black Helmets
For the first time since 2010, the Eagles will have an alternate helmet. And today we got our first glimpse at what it will look like. They released this peek at what their all black helmets will look like.

Before now the NFL had not allowed teams to have alternate helmets. So whenever they would wear their all-black jerseys, they would still have to wear the normal midnight green helmets. But with that rule being lifted, it has opened up new possibilities for uniform combos. This All-Black one is just the first example of that, with a Kelly Green version set to make its debut in 2023. The caveat is that the NFL currently only allows one alternate helmet. So unless the rule changes again, the eventual Kelly Green helmet will replace this All-Black one.
“It’s something the majority of us as players always wanted – just a little change in uniform. I like the shininess of the black. It’s something different to add to the all-black (uniforms).” -DeVonta Smith
Jeffrey Lurie announced the All-Black helmets during the owners meetings in March. But it took until now to get a glimpse of how they would look. It really is just their normal helmet, but painted black. But the color difference will certainly fit some of their alternate jerseys better than the midnight green did. Particularly the All-Black Jerseys, that have become popular the last several years. Especially since the Eagles always seem to win when they wear them.
We do not know yet when they will make their in-game debut. But whenever they do, the Eagles will finally be able to match their helmet to their alternate jersey.
