Theres Smoke Around Lowry To The Sixers
Even after a report came out of Toronto saying that Kyle Lowry was staying put, that might have been premature. We will find out soon enough, as the NBA trade deadline is Thursday. But the Lowry to the Sixers rumors continue, even after the sportsnet report. But its not just the Sixers according to The Athletic’s Sham Charnia.
The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are leaders in pursuit to acquire Lowry, sources told The Athletic, and several rival team executives are monitoring the situation as well as which young player or asset either team could part with.
The Heat, who are coming off a trip to the Championship in the bubble, are looking to get back in the hunt. They currently sit in 5th place and are 8 games behind the first place *checks notes*…..Philadelphia 76ers. but that wasnt the only report thats come out confirming that Lowry could, in fact, be on the block. Several recent reports in the Toronto media have suggested the Raptors are unlikely to trade Lowry, including one report that the Raptors have straight up told suitors they will not deal him. I have not heard that from league sources. Other teams tell ESPN the Raptors have indeed not yet been aggressive engaging on Lowry talks. That does not mean the door is closed. Such doors are almost never closed until the deadline passes.
Lowry is looking to cement his legacy while hes still playing at an impact level. And the Sixers just happen to be his hometown team. The question now is weather or not the Raptors are willing to accept a package of bad first round picks and Maxey (hypothetically speaking. Young players and picks)
