6 Eagles Players Who Made 1st Or 2nd Team All-Pro
The Associated Press’s All-Pro list is one of the more prestigious honors in the NFL. Every year a panel of 50 NFL Media Members votes on who the best players are at each position, and the AP assembles a full team that should represent the best players in the league. They just released their team for this year, and a number of Eagles players made the list.
6 made the list in total. 2 Made the 1st team, and 4 made the end team.
Eagles Who Made 1st Team All-Pro
- RB- Saquon Barkley
- LB- Zack Baun
Neither of these are much of a shock to be on the 1st team. Saquon Barkley became the 9th player to ever rush for 2000 yards, flirted with breaking the record, and led the league in 10-yard rushes, 30-yard rushes, 40-yard rushes, 50-yard rushes, and 60-yard rushes. It would be hard to make a case for anyone else.
Likewise, Zack Baun ranks near the top of every stat for Line Backers. 2nd in tackles, 1st in stops, and 1st in Forced Fumbles. It is a shock he got here from the beginning of the year, given he had barely ever played Inside Linebacker, but anyone who watched him play knew he would be an All-Pro. Baun is only the 5th Eagles LB to ever make the All-Pro team.
Eagles Who Made 2nd Team All-Pro
- LT-Jordan Mailata
- RT-Lane Johnson
- WR- AJ Brown
- DT-Jalen Carter
The only surprise is that some of these guys were not first team. There are a lot of good tackles, and you can’t argue against guys like Penei Sewell and Tristan Wirfs, but you could easily argue both Eagles tackles are the best at what they do. This is the first All-Pro selection for Jordan Mailata and the 5th for Lane Johnson (3 2nd Teams, 2 1st teams).
Neither AJ Brown nor Jordan Mailata made the Pro Bowl (for some reason). But they both get honored with an All-Pro. Both did miss time, which likely kept them from being 1st team, on top of both having serious competition at their position.
It is also the first All-Pro nod for Jalen Carter in just his 2nd season. Likely the 1st of many to come. His stats don’t even begin to show how impactful he is for the Eagles defense.
Landon Dickerson did not get a nod. You could argue he deserved one. You could also make the arguments for Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, but it is very hard for rookies to get that level of recognition.
