Charlie Manuel Thinks Trea Turner Will Figure it Out At The Plate
It has not been a good start to his Phillies career for Trea Turner. In fact, you could probably say he has been flat-out bad. He is batting .245, and his OBP is under .300. And those struggles have carried into the field too. Turner had multiple errors the other night. Coming into the season there was talk he would compete for MVP. But so far he has been anything but. He does have at least one person in town that believes in him though. Phillies former Skipper Charlie Manuel.
Charlie knows hitting. And he thinks Trea Turner is too talented of a hitter to keep playing like this.
"I know Turner is going to come around. This year, I don't know for what reason, he hasn't been as consistent as the past, but at the same time he is a .300 hitter, so he just needs to stay with it."

In his career, he is a .295 hitter. Most seasons he finishes near the league lead in hits. But all of his numbers are way down this year. Is it just the pressure of the big deal getting to him?
Whatever it is, they need him to figure it out? With Rhys Hoskins hurt, they were counting on him to pick up a lot of the slack. While he is not the power hitter Rhys is, if he was just racking up hits, and scoring runs, it would still make up for the missing bat. But right now outside of the speed numbers, he is not giving them much at all. Hopefully, Charlie Manuel is right, and he will just figure it out.
Charlie also discussed how Bryce Harper is starting to heat up, his thoughts on the Phillies lineup, what the team needs at the deadline, and more.
