Anthony Gargano’s Opening Weekend- ‘What an Incredible Weekend’
We may have just watched the best overall weekend in Philly sports history. Phillies advanced to the NLCS. The Eagles beat the Cowboys to stay undefeated. The Flyers started the year 2-0 surprisingly. We are a day away from the Sixers’ season starting, and a couple of days away from the Union’s first playoff game. And you know Anthony Gargano was in his element after everything that happened this weekend.
Here is Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe today…
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
What an incredible weekend! One of the greatest weekends in Philadelphia Sports history. Fighting Phils in the NLCS against the Padres. Eagles 6-0! Flyers win, the Union in the playoffs, Sixers start tomorrow. Man, what an incredible weekend. Friday and Saturday that ballpark just roaring on every pitch. Last night Lincoln Financial field just roaring.
What an amazing weekend! And we get the NLCs starting tomorrow… My head is going to explode. Are you kidding me? I don’t even know where to start. It was that kind of weekend. I guess we will go back to Friday, and the incredible performance from the fans. As we watched Rhys hit one into the night. Oh my god. Strider on the mound. Remember, he just motored through the first 2 innings. He looked great, and he was popping 99. And then all of a sudden, the Stott at bat.
Stott was the key to this whole thing. This whole weekend, including the Eagles. Stott, you are the freaking man. Strider is throwing gas. And what did Stott do? He wore him out. And Strider is getting frustrated, and then finally he gives in with a breaking ball. Stott’s bat was sped up from the fastballs, so he hooked the breaking ball for a double. And that was it. They walked Schwarber, and then it was a Rhys bomb. He just tomahawked that thing. Upper deck with a shot.
And then Saturday! That Bats, The Brutes on Broad. And watching that fanbase, listening to this in the clubhouse. It was all joy. All smiles. What an incredible weekend. Citizens Bank Park. The playoffs come back after 11 years. And this town showed. It was just amazing.
Now it is Phillies Padres. Let’s go! So the party continues. Red October continues.
