Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is reportedly retiring from the NFL after seven seasons.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted, "Andrew Luck has informed the Colts he is retiring from the NFL, per source. There will be a press conference Sunday to make it official, but Luck is mentally worn down, and now checking out.

Luck was the number one overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he has been plagued with injury issues for the last four of his seven seasons. He notably sat out the entire 2017 season due to shoulder surgery.

UPDATE: After last night's pre-season game between the Colts and the Chicago Bears, Luck announced his decision during an impromptu 25-minute news conference, according to EPSN. He said an official announcement wasn't planned until Sunday afternoon, but he changed course once news broke during the game.

"I've been stuck in this process," Luck said,  clearly emotional. "I haven't been able to live the life I want to live. It's taken the joy out of this game ... the only way forward for me is to remove myself from football. This is not an easy decision. It's the hardest decision of my life. But it is the right decision for me.''
