All of the games in the series will be played at 8 p.m. Starting with game 1 on Tuesday Night. And the pitching matchup in that game will be Zack Wheeler vs Jesus Luzardo.
Luzardo is a tough lefty pitcher. His ERa this season is 3.63, with a 10-9 record and 208 Ks over 178 innings. it is his 2nd straight season with an ERA under 4.0, after he had a 3.32 ERA last season. This is his 6th season in the majors and his 3rd with the Marlins. While his early seasons with the As and his first season in Miami were a bit of a struggle, he has clearly found his from and has turned into one of the better lefty starters in the league
In his 3 seasons with the Marlins, he has faced the Phillies 5 times. In those starts, he has 3 wins with a 3.26 ERA and 37 strikeouts. Not the largest sample size, but Luzardo has pitched very well vs. the Phillies so far. And the individual Phillies, besides a couple of guys, have not hit well vs the Martlins game 1 starter. But how bad are their numbers so far? Let's go player by player and see how each guy has hit against Jesus Luzardo thus far in their careers. And while the numbers don't look great, it is worth mentioning most of them are small sample sizes.
