Jesus Luzardo had pretty great numbers against almost the entire Phillies lineup, albeit in a small sample size. They got to him anyway. 3 runs in 4 innings. Bryce Harper was the only Phillies hitter to not get a hit off him. Luzardo battled as well as he could. And likely avoided an even bigger disaster by getting out of trouble multiple times. But the Phillies did more than enough against him to get the win behind Zack Wheeler's performance. Which brings us to a decisive game 2, where Braxton Garrett will take the mound for the Marlins.
Like Luzardo, Garrett is a tough lefty. But unlike Luzardo, Garrett does not have a dazzling history against the Phillies. In 5 career starts vs. the Phillies, his ERA is 4.5. He faced the Phillies twice this season and gave up 3 runs over 5 innings in each of them. But he has had a good season. In 159.2 innings he had a 3.66 ERA and 156 KS. And he finished the season on a very high note, with an ERA of 2.29 over the last 30 days.
He gets a 3rd shot tonight when he duels Aaron Nola in a decisive game 2. If the Phillies can get to him again, they can advance to the NLDs where the Braves await them. We already looked at how Aaron Nola has pitched vs. each of the Marlins hitters. So now let's take a look at how the Phillies hitters have hit against Braxton Miller.
Do any of the Phillies hitters have a strong history against the Marlins Lefty? Has he managed to stifle any of the Phillies hitters? Let go hitter by hitter, to see each of their stats against the Marlins' Game 2 starter,
