The Sixers have been a disaster without Joel Embiid. Ever since he went down with a meniscus injury, they have taken a nosedive. Even with the reinforcements they got at the trade deadline, they are struggling just to tread water. But the big man spoke to the media today and shared something that may make Sixers fans feel at least a bit better. He still plans on returning this season. Thank you to Keith Pompey for sharing the video.

We already knew the Sixers hoped he could return this season. But hearing it from the Big Man himself certainly makes us feel a bit better about it. He stopped short of giving us a timetable of when that might be. But he said that he feels good considering the injury he suffered, and that once he feels good enough to play, he will play.

They certainly need him. the Sixers are 1-3 since the All-Star Break. It was a tough set of 4 games, but still. If they continue like this they will fall into the play in range, or maybe even out of the playoffs altogether. Tyrese Maxey is doing everything he can to keep the Sixers above water. But he can't do it on his own.

When Joel Embiid did play, the Sixers were one of the best teams in the NBA. The lineup of Embiid, Maxey, Tobias Harris, Nico Batum, and DeAnthony Melton had the best rating in the NBA. Now, if Embiid is healthy at some point, they can add Buddy Hield to that. As bleak as things seem, it can get better. If Embiid comes back, this team can still make some noise. The only question is if they will keep their head above water enough for it to matter.
