Two-time (and soon-to-be three-time) cancer survivor John Kincade shaved his head earlier this week after four rounds of a 12-round chemotherapy regimen.

The First Friday Broadcast for The John Kincade Show held some unusual surprises for the morning host.

He expected the all-star list of guests like Jeff McLane, Taryn Hatcher, Fran Dunphy, and Jen Scordo to deliver. They certainly did. The Philadelphia Eagles coverage and the conversations about Trea Turner were great as always.

However, his producers caught him off guard.

Surprising Cancer Survivor John Kincade

Pat Egan and Connor Thomas led a group of Fanatic/Beasley Media employees who shaved their heads in what John called “a beautiful show of solidarity” that totally flattered him.

The John Kincade Show doesn’t have any hair left. Jamie Lynch started the trend circa 1994. Bob Cooney was next in line, and Pat and Connor finally joined the group on Friday morning.

The Fanatic’s monthly First Friday broadcast in front of a live audience of regular listeners provided the perfect opportunity to show John some support during his battle with colon cancer.

Paul Blake and Matt Cowper of the company's sales department and even Beasley’s Philadelphia Market Manager Joe Bell joined in the fun. Sal’s Barbershop in King of Prussia set up right beside the stage just down the hall from the Fanatic studio.

15-year-old Jacob Orlick, aka J-Bone, a fellow cancer survivor and aspiring sports broadcaster, also joined the show to give the guys a few lessons.

It’s been a big week for John and for 97.5 The Fanatic. The station’s Charity Golf Classic took place at Turtle Creek in Limerick on Monday. Everyone’s favorite emcee stepped up to accept a generous donation to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) on behalf of Citadel Credit Union.

Above all, the overflow of generosity is an excellent show of strength and unity for the station.

Continue to support John Kincade’s cancer battle by donating to the AACR today.

Watch The John Kincade Show live on the 97.5 The Fanatic YouTube page on weekday mornings from 6am-10am.

Andrew Salciunas, “The Choonis,” has done it all at the station - screening calls, working events as a member of the street team, producing 7 days a week, doing updates, and now hosting his own show. Now with a wife and kid, his life experiences are far different than when he first started, but this “regular guy” knows how to relate to anyone. He writes about the Flyers, Phillies, Sixers, and Eagles.
