The Phillies have an opening in their lineup at the shortstop position with last years starter Didi Gregorius hitting free agency. Gregorius was working on a one year, prove it deal and he...proved it. Gregorius became a fan favorite in his lone season with the Phillies hitting .284 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI's in just 215 at bats. But Gregorius is just one shortstop the team is keeping their eye on

Andrelton Simmons is a name that Phillies fans should be familiar with as he started his career in Atlanta until be traded to the Angels. Phillies fans should also be VERY familiar with Freddy Galvis because he started his career with the team, albeit during the rough years. Both Galvis and Simmons have Gold Glove ability. Both players are also 30 years old. So there are a lot of similarities with the two.

Simmons is coming off an injury riddled season with the Angels, getting just 118 at bats. But in his career he is a .269 hitter. Galvis hit .220 but he, like Simmons, also had just 141 at bats. Once again, A lot of similarities.

I think the ideal situation is for Gregorious to sign a 2-3 year deal with the Phillies and hopefully by the end of it 2019 first round pick (14th overall) is ready to take over.

Keep it on the Fanatic as we will continue to update you on the Phillies offseason!
