Roman Quinn, Jay Bruce return to Phillies lineup in Boston
The Phillies open a 10-game road trip tonight against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Here is manager Joe Girardi’s lineup:
Andrew McCutchen LF
Rhys Hoskins 1B
Bryce Harper RF
J.T. Realmuto C
Didi Gregorius SS
Alec Bohm 3B
Jay Bruce DH
Scott Kingery 2B
Roman Quinn CF
Zach Eflin is the starting pitcher. He is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA. Right-hander Zack Godley (0-2, 8.16) pitches for Boston.
Jay Bruce is back in the Phillies’ lineup after leaving Sunday’s game with sore quadriceps.
Jean Segura left Sunday’s game with a sore hamstring. He is not in the lineup but should be back in a day or so. Girardi indicated that Segura would avoid going on the IL.
Roman Quinn is back, as well. He felt ill and was held out Sunday. A COVID-19 test was negative.
Scott Kingery is back at second base after playing center field over the weekend.
The Phils (8-9) have won three in a row.
Boston (6-17) has lost eight in a row.
It’s a good time for the Phils to make a move, but Girardi said the Phillies can’t afford to take the Red Sox lightly.
“On any given day, you can have your lunch handed to you in this game,” he said.
One roster move: The Phils added reliever Reggie McClain from the reserve squad. He replaced reliever JoJo Romero.
First pitch is 7:30 p.m.
