NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 25: Coach Julius "Dr. J" Erving of Tri-State speaks during week one of the BIG3 three on three basketball league at Barclays Center on June 25, 2017 in New York City.

See what Andrew Salciunas found in The Audio Vault today! He found 4 things that happened on this day in history, including a famous song that was recorded, an iconic movie released in theaters, a famous Muhammad Ali fight, and Dr. J winning the All-Star Game MVP. Here is the lineup from the Audio Vault today.

  • Aretha Franklin Records Respect

Firstly on his day in 1967, Aretha Franklin recorded, not released, Respect. It was originally released by Otis Reading in 1965. but about two years later, Aretha Franklin recorded a version so iconic it eclipsed even Otis Reading’s classic version, which is a very high bar to top. So Andrew played a little bit of her version of Respect in The Audio Vault this morning.

  • Julius Irving wins 1977 All-Star Game MVPMVP

On today in 1977, DR.J won the All-Star Game MVP at The Mecca in Milwaukee. Irving dropped 30pts and grabbed 12 rebounds. So Andrew grabbed a collection of highlights from his performance in the game, the ceremony of him being awarded the MVP award, and the jeers of the crowd, unhappy that Dr.J won it over Paul Westphal

  • Muhammad Ali Beats Joe Bugner

On this day in 1973, Ali beat Bugner for the first time. He would go on to fight him a second time in 1975, and of course Ali won both bouts. He won this first one by Unanimous decision after 12 rounds. And in typical Ali fashion, he entered the ring in style wearing a Robe gifted to him by Elvis bearing the inscription “People’s Choice”. Andrew pulled some audio from hat fight to play for us today in The Audio Vault.

  • Silence of the Lambs Released in Theaters

And on this day in 1991, Silence of the Lambs was released in theaters. Truly A Valentine’s Day Classic. The iconic film has many memorable scenes. And today in the Audio Vault Andrew played what is perhaps the most memorable scene of the movie, where Anthony Hopkins’ Hanibal Lecter discusses how he ate somebodies Liver with “Fava Beans and a nice Chianti.”
