During the Afternoon show Tyrone, Jenn, and Connor played a fun game with listeners. The "All Philly Fantasy Team." The criteria is simple. Pick a fantasy lineup of players who are either from here, lived here, or played here. The listeners got the first pick in the draft so we will start off with the listener list. Be on the look out tomorrow (Tuesday) when we unveil the shows fantasy squad!
Here are who the listeners chose.
1) Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt was chosen by Kevin in South Hampton.
One of the best players in NBA history. Born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Overbrook High School. Also starred for the Philadelphia Warriors
2) Pete Rose
Pete was chosen by Mike in Jersey
Pete was a MASSIVE signing by the Phillies and the missing piece for the Phillies on getting their first title in 1980
3) Mike Schmidt
Mike was chosen by Steve in Wilkes-Barre
Mike Schmidt was a 2nd round pick by the Phillies out of Ohio. He went on to become the best third basemen EVER
4) Chuck Bednarik
Chuck was chosen by Greg in Bethlehem
Chuck was the first overall pick by the Eagles out of the University of Penn and he went on to be one of the best two way players in NFL history.
5) Muhammad Ali
Muhammed was chosen by John in Abington
Arguably the best boxer of all time lived in Cherry Hill from 1971-1974
6) Franco Harris
Franco was chosen by Greg in Lancaster
Franco Harris starred at Penn State before turning in a Hall of Fame career. But he was born and raised in Mt. Holly.
7) Mike Trout
Mike was chosen by Anthony "on the cell"
Mike Trout is local. Its hardly EVER mentioned but it is true. Hes even an Eagles fan!
8) Alonzo Spellman
Alonzo was chosen by Deek in Moorestown
The first real surprise of the list, Spellman went to the same high school as Franco Harris. He was a 1st round pick in the NFL draft and carved out a nice career for himself.
Fran O'Hanlon
Fran was chosen by Jack in Ridley Park
Another shock to the list, and im not totally convinced that Fran isnt a family member of Jack in Ridley Park. Hes been a very successful head coach of the Lafayette basketball team
10) Reggie Jacksoon
Reggie was chosen by Laura in Rockledge
Ok, were back on track. "Mr. October" is known that for a reason. He was a stud and ended up in Cooperstown
11) Richie Ashburn
Richie was chosen by Mike in Cape May Courthouse
Richie was born in Nebraska but he hit the world stage as a member of the Phillies. "Whitey" then hit the booth to form a dynamic duo with Harry Kalas.
12) Robin Roberts
Robin was chosen by Chuck in West Philly.
The ace of the "Whiz Kids." Roberts is one of the greatest pitchers to ever play for the team and you can visit his statue at Citizens Bank Park.
13) Michael Spinks
Michael was chosen Jeff on the cell.
Spinks was one of the best boxers in his day. He moved to Philadelphia from St. Louis shortly after turning pro.
14) Dawn Staley
Dawn was chosen by Dennis in Whitehall
Dawn is a Philadelphia treasure.
15) Eddie George
Eddie was chosen by Dave in Lindenwold
Eddie was the pride of Abington High School before staring at Oho State where he won the Heisman and then following it up with a Pro Bowl career in the NFL. Hes transitioned to broadway actor after retiring.
16) John LeClair
John was chosen by Andrew in Ambler
In the 90's John LeClair teamed up with Eric Lindros to form 2/3 of the Legion of Doom. The highlight was a cup run in 1997
17) Dick Allen
Dick was chosen by Steve in Ambler
Dick Allen FINALLY is getting in the Hall of Fame. he was a standout for the Phillies and one of the best power hitters to play for the organization
18) Cris Carter
Chris was chosen by Dev in Chester.
All he did for the Eagles was catch touchdowns. He then went on to the Vikings and caught more touchdowns.
